Jay Basen has almost 40 years experience in the development of software systems. During his career he has worked on military systems for the United States as well as for several foreign governments. He has also developed economic modeling software for the World Bank and, while working for Becton Dickinson, software for medical instruments. From 1990 through 2004 Jay was a C-level executive at RDA; a consulting company in Maryland focused on developing software systems for fortune 1000 companies. Jay managed the software delivery organization at RDA and helped the company grow from 11 employees in 2004 to 250 with revenues of $50m. For the past twelve years Jay has been developing software for the management of residential and commercial buildings with a focus on energy management. A number of the projects he wrote the software for have won national awards and have been published in Electronic House magazine.
Jay was raised on Long Island, NY. He graduated from Duke University in 1978 with a BS in Electrical Engineering and received his masters degree in engineering from Loyola College in 1982. Jay and his wife live in Hailey, after moving to the Wood River Valley in 2010.
