Mike and Terri Higgs are founding partners of sondance, a faith-based community development nonprofit organization based outside of Carey in southeast Blaine County. They have over 30 years of experience in mentoring youth workers, families, marketplace and educational leaders, coaches, and others interested in exploring the spiritual dimension of holistic living. The local focus of their nonprofit is helping others in Blaine Country understand and embrace the important role spiritual issues play in “quality of place” and the “common good” of a community.
Mike and Terri have experience in starting up four 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations; before moving to Idaho to start sondance, Mike spent 18 years as the Executive Director of the Portland Youth Foundation, a coalition of 300 youth leaders in Portland, Oregon that worked with churches, business leaders, and school systems to develop strategic initiatives that benefited teenagers. Mike has authored two books in his field of expertise, has extensive experience as a writer and editor, and travels widely as a speaker, trainer, and mentor. He has experience in helping organizations integrate values and ethics into their corporate cultures. Terri is a gifted counselor and is the hostess of the Sondance Inn, a private Retreat and Guest House located on the Little Wood River north of Carey. While not licensed counselors, Mike and Terri have helped many individuals discover principles for balanced living, and provided help and support for those suffering from depression and/or burnout. They are available individually or as a couple for mentoring.
